The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Quality Control Specialist to join the Quality team at the Dundee Engine Plant in Dundee, MI. The Quality Control Specialist is responsible to Act as the Point of Contact for the Dundee Engine Plant and other corporate departments in regards to World Class Manufacturing activities for the Quality Control Pillar
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain the QA matrix spreadsheets for each program by assessing internal and external sources for defects (Warranty, Dyno Testing, First Time Capability Issues, etc.) the upkeep of these matrices will include 4M analysis, cost, frequency, detection point and severity assessments as well as project tracking for each issue and/or defect mode
Maintain the QA Network boards for each program by assessing each defect mode from the QA matrix and assigning the current controls for detection of the defect
Lead major and advanced Kaizen problem solving projects
Gain working knowledge of the quality control and quality maintenance 7-step problem solving processes and can teach these techniques to team members, as well as work with the Autonomous
Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance and Production teams to attack machine related quality defects using the QM 7-steps
Review Engine PFMEAs for potential human error concerns and work with the Workplace Organization and People Development pillar teams to address the issues before program launches
Work with People Development and Workplace Organization pillars to ensure that a Human Element Root Cause Analysis is conducted for every human error that has caused quality defects on the shop floor
Review and suggest countermeasures to help error proof the process when a human error is found, this process may include gaining buy-in from product engineering for possible product and/or process changes to ensure quality for the customer
Explore production, quality, and customer concerns, using PPSR and other advanced problem solving techniques (Shainin, DMAIC, and Kaizen)
Collect data as required, report on the root causes with supportive data, and recommend solutions to manufacturing operations and/or product engineering to correct the problem
May make studies and recommendations for future product improvements
Foster an environment of continuous improvement in the QE organization by benchmarking, evaluating others best practices, reviewing lessons learned and recommending impact changes to the DEP QE organization
Enthusiastically support and contribute to DEP's World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Program
Perform other duties as assigned or governed by customer requirements
Actively participate in DEP's employee suggestion program -- Innovation by Suggestion
Be a high-energy, hands-on individual with integrity, strength of convictions - a self-confident leader that effectively sells and offers solutions to others
Displays effective communication skills (presentations, analysis, studies) to support meetings and audits results at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
Work to achieve JD Powers Manufacturing, Department Program Management, and Corporate Audit Office Liaison and WCM initiatives
Basic
Qualifications:
Engineering degree or approved Technical degree
Leadership experience
2 Years of experience working within a manufacturing plant
Overall working knowledge and experience of quality processes
Microsoft Office proficiency and ability/skill for VP presentation
Good understanding of Kaizen problem solving tools
Ability and willingness to travel to all FCA plants as required
Preferred
Qualifications:
MBA or other advanced degrees
Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Extensive experience with WCM tools and methodologies
Experience in Powertrain manufacturing and/or a union environment is a plus
GD&T, gaging, part inspections, sorting processes, establishing clean points, etc.
RCA and WCM problem solving techniques and methods
Proficient in data analysis including warranty/EPUS systems
Basic knowledge of FCA plant systems such as PFS, ALS
Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
